Do you know Twitter's Moments?

Launched in October in the US, Moments is a tool that lets you find the best stories more easily. Now in Brazil, a team is fully dedicated to it.

To access it (@momentsbrasil), just click the lightning bolt icon, built into the options bar. The list of the most relevant topics of the moment is updated as new stories emerge, making it easier to search by category (News, Entertainment, Sports, and Fun), which brings together the best memes.

Leonardo Stamillo is Twitter's editorial director for Latin America and will be exclusively dedicated to Moments. His team, with a background in Journalism, manually curates content from Tweets that have already been published.

Moments

So how does it work?

  • When you click the new button, you're taken to an introduction, with a title and a description.
  • By swiping the screen sideways, you dive deeper into the story, built from photos, videos, Vines, and auto-playing GIFs.
  • A single tap gives you a broader view of the Tweet, and you can like or Retweet it. Double-tap to instantly like the Tweet.
  • The progress bar at the bottom of the screen shows how much content is left in the Moment.
  • Swiping up or down closes the experience and takes you back to the home screen.
  • Tap the share button to Tweet it and send it to your followers.

How do you follow a Moment?

For topics that are updated very frequently, there's an option to "follow the Moment," which sends the Tweets to your timeline. This makes it easier to keep up with the latest updates in real time. Once the story ends, the Tweets stop coming, and your timeline goes back to exactly how it was before.

Most Moments are being created by the specially selected team, while others are produced by partners. In Brazil, the first ones are: BuzzFeed (@BuzzFeedBrasil), EGO (@siteEgo), Esporte Interativo (@Esp_Interativo), Estadão (@Estadao), Fantástico (@ShowDaVida), G1 (@g1), GloboEsporte.com (@globoesportecom), Gshow (@gshow), Jornalismo da Band (@TVBandnews), Multishow (@multishow), Rede Globo (@RedeGlobo), and Veja (@VEJA).

Like a Tweet, a Moment can be shared on any network through a link and is available to iOS and Android app users, as well as on desktop.

On top of all this, we'll also have Promoted Moments, a powerful channel for brands to tell their stories. The first partners in Brazil are: Johnny Walker, Coca-Cola, Nissan, and TIM.

Now that it's all been well explained, how about giving Moments a try?
