According to the research “An Exhaustive Study of Twitter Users Around the World” conducted by Beevolve, there is a very striking segmentation among users.
According to the study, the main topic discussed by women – who are the majority on the social network – is fashion, followed by family. Men, of course, talk more about sports, but also bring up technology as a topic for discussion.
It's also worth noting that the research brought more data about social media:
- Women are the majority worldwide, but they lead by a small margin (only 3%). In Brazil, however, almost 60% of users are men.
- 90% of the network's users are between 15 and 35 years old.
- The United States is the country with the highest number of users (half of the network). Brazil ranks 4th, with 3.44%.
- Each Twitter user has, on average, 208 followers and follows about 102 people. Proportionally, 6 out of every 100 users on the network have no followers at all.
- Regarding privacy, 84% of users share their location on their profile and 10% use the geo-location service. Meanwhile, 12% have a locked profile, and of that number, 64% are women.
- iOS users make up almost 70% of the network's audience. Among the apps, the official one is the most used (77%).
