Remember the “reactions” we mentioned a while back here on our blog?
Yesterday, Facebook began rolling out alternatives to the “like” button, which has been part of the social network for a long time. This new feature had been in testing in some countries since last year, and this week the more than 1 billion users will start getting access to it.
A total of five reactions, each represented by a feeling and an emoji: Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry, in addition to the traditional like button. To display them, you need to hold down the like button (on mobile apps) or hover your mouse over it (on desktop). They're only available for posts—whether text, video, or photo—not for comments.
This new Facebook feature should help brands “better understand how their audience is reacting to content,” according to the social network itself.
As with all new features Facebook launches, this one is also being rolled out gradually to users around the world.
