Expanding business operations into the digital realm is an option that came on strong in 2015. Why? The economic crisis.
“Companies started rethinking their investments in advertising and marketing. The entrepreneur wants to cut costs, but thinks that if they cut advertising, they'll have no more revenue. Online, investments are flexible based on results, and that's what makes it appealing,” explains Gustavo Hana, CEO of GhFly, a digital agency specialized in strategies to maximize profitability in online operations.
Growing your sales channel and reaching more people are the advantages, on top of cost reduction.
“You go beyond the physical boundaries of your neighborhood, region, or city, reaching a much broader market. Those who see this sooner and bet on the initiative tend to get ahead of the competition,” says Geraldo Santos, entrepreneur and speaker at the Expo Fórum de Marketing Digital.
However, a word of caution: before expanding, make sure your target audience is made up of internet users.
“You need a lot of criteria and a lot of caution. Returns aren't guaranteed.”
A very important tip is to plan ahead and set aside a financial reserve dedicated to the digital side. “E-commerce is an extremely competitive segment that demands careful strategy and investment,” he says.
