Brazil is the first country to test it out
It was announced last Monday, the 15th, that there's more news: now you can send and receive money directly through WhatsApp conversations. The tool can be used by individuals and small businesses in Brazil only. ~ the humble shall be exalted. ~
In an official statement, the app said that more than 10 million micro and small businesses drive the Brazilian economy, and WhatsApp is already the most common way to reach their customers.
“With the payment feature on WhatsApp, in addition to viewing products in the catalog, customers will also be able to pay for the chosen product without leaving WhatsApp. By simplifying the payment process, we hope to help bring more businesses into the digital economy and generate more growth opportunities.”
Facebook Pay is the new tool that makes these transactions possible, and according to the company, the idea is that, in the future, everyone will be able to use the same data for payments across the entire family of Facebook apps. Could we see payments on Facebook itself and on Instagram too? 🤔
In the statement received, the platform made it clear that this feature will be available for WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business App only (for now). Individuals will be able to send money and buy products with no fees, while businesses will have to pay a 3.99% fee per transaction.
Ah, but what about the limit? For person-to-person money transfers there's a limit of R$1,000.00 per transaction, R$5,000.00 per month, and 20 transactions per day. For purchasing products/services, there are no limits, but the business needs to be using the business app.
This feature is being rolled out gradually across the country.
HOW TO SET IT UP AND USE IT?
As if this news weren't enough, they've also released step-by-step videos!
