Facebook announced today its new tool, Graph Search, a completely new way to find information within the social network.
Focused on improving the user experience, the service allows you to perform advanced searches through the vast content within the network, tailored to your profile, delivering results in an intuitive way. You can search for places, interests, photos, videos, profile information, and much more.
Results are ranked and sorted first by your friends with the closest connections, then by friends of friends, and finally by other undisclosed Facebook signals.
At the official Graph Search presentation, Mark Zuckerberg showed a few examples: “My friends who live in Palo Alto and like Game of Thrones”; “Photos of my friends in 2009”; “Songs my friends like”; “People named Chris who are friends with Lars and studied at Stanford.”
Facebook's goal with Graph Search, according to Mark Zuckerberg, is to foster new connections and make it easier for users to find people who share the same interests or who have been in the same place as you.
