WhatsApp chats now mutable for an indefinite period of time

This feature has finally arrived!

About time! Previously, the longest option was to mute your chats for 1 year, but now that option has been replaced with “always” here in Brazil. You can unmute manually, no problem.

This news was announced by WhatsApp itself on its social media. On Twitter, for example, the Facebook Group's social network posted a screenshot of the new chat notification settings screen with the message: “You can now mute a chat forever.”

Although this option is new to WhatsApp, permanent muting had already existed in the rival messaging app, Telegram. This is, in fact, yet another of the many tools and features that Telegram introduced first, with WhatsApp following the trend afterward.

WhatsApp has rolled out several new features over the past year. Earlier in the year, the company launched in-app payments, and more recently, it gained an important feature for pandemic times: a tool that lets you check the accuracy of forwarded messages.

Have you ever muted a chat forever?
