You've probably seen a new type of post blowing up on your timeline! It's not a photo, GIF, or video. So what is it? Brands are starting to invest in this format to boost engagement on social media. Get to know Cinemagraph or Cinemagraphy and find out why brands should bet on this feature.
What is Cinemagraph?
It's a technique that blends video and photography, like an animated photo. In other words, the image isn't entirely static, since part of it is animated to create a sense of motion. Sometimes you need to look really closely to notice the infinite loop in the details!
Who created Cinemagraph?
Web designer Kevin Burg and photographer Jamie Beck created this technique in 2011 in the United States.
How do you make a Cinemagraph?
There are two ways to produce one: take a series of photos in sequence or record a scene on video using a tripod. Once that's done, just use an editing program to select the part you want to animate.
Why should brands invest in Cinemagraph?
Cinemagraph grabs more attention than most static images in your timeline thanks to its “hypnotic” effect, which can lead to higher user engagement. On top of that, the cost is lower compared to producing a video, and it's more eye-catching compared to standard posts. Another advantage is investing in ads using this feature to attract users on Facebook and Instagram.
