Black Friday, which always happens on the last Friday of November, is one of the most anticipated dates for consumers. Last year, according to Globo's research, which mapped out consumption trends for Black Friday 2022, 80% of Brazilian consumers were satisfied or very satisfied with their purchases on Black Friday.
This year, expectations are even higher, with entrepreneurs racing to offer rock-bottom discounts to consumers who are already eager to buy.
As a reflection of the pandemic, we noticed that some market sectors saw a significant drop in demand, which is understandable—such as tourism, tickets for theater, concerts, and other events, and even the clothing sector. In fact, certain items ended up falling off consumers' priority lists.
The good news is that this upcoming Black Friday promises to heat up consumption! According to the research, 62% of consumers expect improvement in the second half of 2022, but 47% believe things would only start getting better in July of this year. 15% of respondents believe things will start improving from October this year, while 22% expect that to happen only in early 2023.
Based on this possible improvement, the research also shows that respondents are interested in investing in clothing, food, and education! Which is quite interesting!
And will the World Cup have any influence?
Yes, it will! It's quite clear that the World Cup will fuel this Black Friday warm-up, and the research confirms this too. To give you an idea, of the total number of people planning to buy something for the World Cup, 72% intend to do so on Black Friday.
